With just a SodaStream, cold water, and a bit of LorAnn Oils flavoring, I’ve recreated one of the most popular low-calorie beverages available. La Croix are flavored sparkling waters that are excellent refreshers when a glass of water just won’t do. Not only are flavored sparkling waters refreshing, but they are a great substitute for sugary sodas
when you’re trying to cut out those extra calories. By just adding some bubbles and a little flavor to your water you can make your own version of La Croix at home!
If you’re feeling more adventurous you can try combining various LorAnn Oils flavors to create your own unique beverage blends. (Think Mango-Pineapple or Raspberry-Peach).
It only takes three easy steps to turn your tap water into a delightfully refreshing beverage!
- Fill a SodaStream bottle with cold water and screw onto the device
- Hold down the SodaStream button for 15 seconds, then remove
- Add ¼ to ½ teaspoon of LorAnn Oils Super-Strength Flavoring or Bakery Emulsion to bottle, stir together, and enjoy!
We recommend starting with the smaller amount of flavor and adding more to taste. If using LorAnn Bakery Emulsions, you may need to add more as these flavors are less concentrated.
There’s a long list of La Croix flavors to choose from, and we’ve put LorAnn’s flavors to the test to discover which work best when making flavored sparkling water at home. After some experimenting, we found that the water-soluble flavors were most successful. While the flavors that were not water-soluble tasted great, the oils tended to rise to the top of the drink. If you decide to stick with water-soluble flavors, there are plenty of delicious options to choose from.
To help get you started creating your own flavored sparkling water drinks, here are some suggested flavors to incorporate.

*We used LorAnn water-soluble Bakery Emulsions for these select flavors

I am currently using a soda stream machine but I am using fountain flavors as opposed to oils. I refrained from using oils due “water and oil don’t mix well”. How do you get oil to fully mix with water? Thanks.
As mentioned in the post, LorAnn’s super-strength flavors that are water-soluble are best for this purpose. On our website, the details page of each of our flavors will tell you if that particular flavor is water-soluble. Our Flavor Fountain line and our Bakery Emulsions are all soluble in water. Many, but not all of our super-strength flavors are soluble in water.

I love raspberry, but I’ve yet to find a ‘true’ raspberry flavor. All the ones I’ve bought so far, including Watkins, is a terrible replica of a true raspberry flavor. I haven’t tried yours yet. How true to the real raspberry, is the raspberry flavor that you sell?

Just had a thought as we’re on the subject of flavoring water which made me think of tea, which made me think of tea leaves. Can you use any of the LorAnn flavorings on loose leaf teas? Wouldn’t that be something to place on black tea leaves vs just adding to the water and tea itself. Your thoughts?
Flavoring water reminds me of flavoring tea which makes me wonder if any LorAnn flavors would work to flavor the actual tea leaves? I could see adding LorAnn flavoring to hot or iced teas but wouldn’t it be great to flavor black tea leaves and package to give as a hostess gift? Or would the LorAnn flavoring not saturate and dry on tea leaves? I buy an English Breakfast and plain Green tea leaves that might be good to try LorAnn flavoring to. Would that work?
We have not experimented with using our flavors on tea leaves. If you give it a try, let us know how it worked!
This is so great! I’ve been doing it with my DIY carbonated water rig and Lorann’s oils for a while. I prefer it to LaCroix. Better taste, less waste. Where do you see if a flavor is water soluble?
I’m new to flavor extracts vs Emulsions vs oils.
I bought coconut flavor super strength and seems to work. I’m not sure if I should be using the Emulsions though. Your blog shows you used the Emulsions for coconut.
