May Maker of the Month

Theo Marsh’s 24 years in the Air Force took him and his wife, Tammy, all over the world. Living in places like Korea, Japan, and Germany, the pair were exposed to new cultures, unique experiences, and new flavors.

In October of 2017, Theo and Tammy opened Popcorn Piccadilly in Selma, Texas, turning their world-wide adventures into a steampunk wonderland of flavors, aromas, and old-timey treats. Inspired by the hustle and bustle of London’s Piccadilly Circus, the shop-owners and staff are often decked out in Victorian era costumes,  goggles, whimsical gadgets, and accessories.

The hustle and bustle of the original Piccadilly Circus is certainly present in Theo and Tammy’s store. In addition to offering nostalgic sodas, old fashioned candy, and jerky, the Marsh’s and their team keep busy making fresh batches of  fudge, candy and caramel apples, cotton candy, their signature “Armadillos,” pralines, roasted nuts, and over 170 flavors of popcorn.

To say Tammy is a super taster would be an understatement. When developing new flavors, she is inspired by actual food items like wood fired brick oven pizza, Ambrosia fruit salad, and wedding cake. She starts building with the most delicate notes, preserving the little nuances that make those foods unique. Her method results in award-winning, complex flavors that perfectly mimic the real deal. The Sparkling Wine Popcorn is a great example of her attention to detail. This flavor is spot-on, down to the effervescence that is present in the actual drink.

If variety is what you are looking for, this quaint destination is a must. This time of year, the menu features favorites like Wedding Cake, Key Lime Pie, Bubble Gum, Licorice, Banana Pudding, Rosewater Mint, Lemon Cooler, Piña Colada and Dragon Fruit. If savory is you siren song, Hot Pickle, Fregosi (fire brick oven pizza), and Korean BBQ are calling your name.

If you aren’t close enough to “pop” in and pick up a bag or ten, visit their website and place an order. Popcorn Piccadilly is ready to ship their goods, including custom gift boxes, tins, and corporate gifts. If you are looking for a tasty fundraising option, they have you covered!
